The Flowering of a Dream Series:

The Flowering of a Dream series started with one idea to create a large maze that would take the form/image of a large flower and that the initial Umbrella Offering project from 1996 could inspire others to keep the project alive and growing.  (this was one of the goals behind Turner Ashby’s Umbrella Offering project to begin with.)  In 1999 David Heatwole made contact with a couple of Loudoun County art teachers and presented them with the idea for a local community collaboration.  They loved the idea and presented it to other members of their schools as well as art students who would act as the voice for the project within their own school communities.  The ball started and less than a year later on the anniversary of the first Umbrella Offering, The Flowering of a Dream project was completed – or so we thought.  This project became so popular that Heatwole and the Transcendental Arts Council received calls to create it two more times in the community, and that’s how the series of flowers, our little garden came to pass.
